The Icon presented here means more than just a cross. The colors as well as the cross each stand for something.
Black - We are full of sin. We have no where to turn except to the cross.
Red - The Blood of Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Saviour. By his blood we are hidden from sin and the Father only sees us through Jesus' Blood
White - We have been purified and justified through the blood of Jesus so that when we are in front of God and we have had a relationship through His Son, we will be seen as white as snow.
That to me is what the colors and the cross mean. Please think about this next time you see The Cross. We are His sheep and even if one were lost, He would leave the other ninety-nine to save the one. Jesus loves each and every one of us.
